How to Reconstitute Peptides with Bacteriostatic Water

What Is Reconstitution?

Peptides are supplied as lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder and must be reconstituted with Bacteriostatic Water (Bac Water) before use. All Catalyst Peptides vials come paired with a 2mL Bac Water vial to make this process straightforward.

What You'll Need

  • Your Catalyst Peptides vial (e.g. Semaglutide 5mg, Tirzepatide 30mg, etc.)
  • 2mL Bacteriostatic Water (included with your order)
  • 1mL insulin syringe or reconstitution syringe
  • Alcohol swabs
  • A clean, flat surface

Step-by-Step Reconstitution Guide

  1. Swab both vial tops with an alcohol swab and allow to air dry for 10–15 seconds.
  2. Draw up your Bac Water. Using your syringe, draw the desired volume of Bacteriostatic Water. For most vials, 1–2mL is standard.
  3. Inject slowly into the peptide vial. Insert the needle at an angle and allow the Bac Water to run down the inside wall of the vial — do not inject directly onto the powder.
  4. Do not shake. Gently swirl or roll the vial between your fingers until the powder is fully dissolved. The solution should be clear.
  5. Label your vial with the date of reconstitution.

Storage After Reconstitution

  • Store reconstituted peptides in the refrigerator at 2–8°C.
  • Bacteriostatic Water keeps reconstituted peptides stable for up to 28 days when refrigerated.
  • Keep away from light and do not freeze reconstituted solutions.

Calculating Your Concentration

Once reconstituted, you can calculate the concentration of your solution:

Concentration = Peptide amount (mcg) ÷ Volume of Bac Water added (mL)

Example: Semaglutide 5mg (5,000mcg) + 2mL Bac Water = 2,500mcg per mL (or 250mcg per 0.1mL on an insulin syringe).

Peptide-Specific Notes

  • Semaglutide (5mg / 15mg): Dissolves readily. Use 1–2mL Bac Water depending on your target dose.
  • Tirzepatide (30mg / 60mg / 120mg): May take slightly longer to dissolve — be patient and swirl gently.
  • Retatrutide (30mg / 40mg / 60mg): Same process. Ensure full dissolution before drawing doses.
  • Melanotan (10mg): Dissolves quickly. Store away from light as Melanotan is light-sensitive.
  • GHK-Cu (100mg): Dissolves easily. Can be used topically or as directed by your research protocol.
